Shunter Driver

Howden Joinery are looking for an experienced Shunter Driver to support our Raunds Distribution site at our Raunds campus in Northamptonshire. As a Shunter you will systematically improve the operations performance of logistics by essentially managing trailers to ensure that goods can be delivered on time and undamaged. Shift Pattern: Nights – 10pm-6am What can we offer you: – Salary: £37,171 per annum (including shift allowance) + £63.60 bonus per week – Excellent pension scheme (company contribution of up to 12%) – 25 days holiday + bank holidays with the option to buy additional days. – Subsidised lunch at our on-site canteen – Staff Discount – Employee Assistance Programme – Exceptional Reward and Recognition events – Ongoing Support & Development What will you be doing as a Shunter Driver: As a shunter you will support the Transport and Warehouse plan as directed by the Transport Supervisor / Yard Supervisor. Once the plan is delivered the job holder will be responsible for the trailers and will work without supervision, ensuring the trailers are moved to the right locations. The role requires the job holder to undertake responsibilities without direct supervision and demands the use of own initiative, to ensure that trailers are available as and when required. All decisions regarding trailers are the responsibility of the post holder, with any trailer defects or shortages being relayed to their line manager. The ability to understand and follow instruction is essential. The post holder is required to go through on-site training and ideally have previous experience in Transport / Distribution. The post holder will also be expected to carry out duties and other reasonable instructions as requested. What do you need to qualify for the Shunter Driver: – A current clean Class 1 Driving (LGV C+E) Licence is essential and previous experience of undertaking shunting work would be highly desirable.
