Role Overview: DUAL is recruiting for the position of Regional Risk Control Survey Manager within its Commercial division. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering regional underwriting risk control services through a combination of remote and on-site activities in the mid-market sector. Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, providing technical guidance to underwriters, developing and maintaining risk control standards and managing third-party service providers to ensure effective service delivery.

This is an office-based role operating within a hybrid working model, requiring a minimum of 2–3 days per week in the office. Regular in-person collaboration with underwriters is critical to support business acquisition and retention, strengthen client relationships, and identify potential growth opportunities. The successful candidate will be expected to engage actively with colleagues during office days to ensure effective communication and alignment on key business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwriter Collaboration: Collaborate with underwriters for pre-cover, prospecting and renewal activities, providing technical support as needed.
  • Field & Remote Risk Assessments: Perform high priority site visits and desktop assessments to evaluate customer risk.
  • Contractor Oversight: Engage with external survey providers to ensure completion of routine surveys according to agreed service levels.
  • Standards & Innovation: Update and maintain risk control guidelines in response to new risks, technologies and market changes.
  • Training & Development: Provide training and share best practices with underwriting teams to improve risk awareness and decision-making.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Professional certifications: CII, IRM and NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in P&C risk control surveying.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of property and casualty insurance principles and risk management.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, able to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Capable of managing both office-based and fieldwork responsibilities to support business objectives.
