This position blends relationship management, sales capability, and technical insurance expertise to deliver tailored risk solutions and build long-term client partnerships. You’ll work closely with senior colleagues while developing your own portfolio and professional credibility within the rural market. The successful candidate will inherit a book of business of approximately £200k in revenue to manage, while being supported to onboard new business and maintain strong professional connections. Using Howden’s exclusive products, you will play a key role in driving growth through the organic acquisition of Rural, Farm, and Estate clients, while developing and strengthening the inherited portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing Howden clients to support retention and increase product penetration.
- Lead Generation & Conversion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities through campaigns, referrals, and networking activity.
- Client Engagement: Build rapport with prospects, understand their requirements, and present appropriate insurance solutions.
- Quote Delivery: Prepare and deliver competitive insurance quotes, meeting income and referral targets.
- Policy Coordination: Manage documentation, ensure compliance, and support the smooth onboarding of new clients.
- Market Intelligence: Keep informed of industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory developments.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with Directors, Underwriters, Client Managers, and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Customer Service: Maintain consistently high standards of professionalism and service throughout the sales cycle.
- CII qualified (or working towards)
- Proven sales experience (insurance experience advantageous)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Confident managing technical and complex risks with support where required
- Highly organised and self-motivated
- Experience with insurance systems (e.g. Acturis) preferred
- Full, clean driving licence
