Role Overview: The Digital Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between customers, stakeholders, and the engineering team. The primary responsibility is to elicit, analyze, and document customer requirements, translating them into actionable user stories and work items within Azure Boards. The role requires strong communication, analytical, and technical skills, with a focus on Agile delivery and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Elicitation & Analysis – Engage with customers and stakeholders to understand business needs, pain points, and desired outcomes.
  • Facilitate workshops (using Microsoft Teams, OneNote, or similar tools) to capture requirements and clarify objectives.
  • Analyze and document requirements, ensuring they are clear, concise, and testable.
  • User Story Creation & Management – Translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation within Azure Boards.
  • Ensure user stories are written from the end-user\’s perspective, focusing on value and outcomes.
  • Refine and prioritize the backlog, collaborating with product owners and technical leads to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Use tagging, backlog ordering, and discussion threads in Azure Boards to manage and track work items.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration – Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the development team.
  • Maintain open communication channels, providing regular updates on requirements status and backlog progress.
  • Support backlog refinement sessions, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Process & Tooling – Leverage Azure Boards as the single source of truth for work items, ensuring traceability from requirements to delivery.
  • Utilize backlog queries, analytics, and delivery plans to support planning and reporting.
  • Where needed, use visualization tools (e.g., Visio, Azure DevOps Wiki, Mermaid diagrams) to clarify workflows and data flows.
  • Support documentation and sign-off processes using SharePoint.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in a digital or cloud environment, preferably with Azure Boards or similar Agile work management tools.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and the role of user stories in software delivery.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience running workshops and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Familiarity with requirements management, backlog prioritization, and analytics/reporting within Azure Boards.
  • Experience with visualization and documentation tools (e.g., Visio, OneNote, SharePoint).
