Overview Claims Executive β Corporate & CommercialHowden, the new name for Aston Lark, is building a global collective of talented people. We support clients through the complex landscape of commercial risk, crafting bespoke solutions to help businesses navigate uncertainty and grow. This role is a full-time, permanent position; you will ideally be onsite in our Midlands region for 2/3 days per week on average.Responsibilities Manage end-to-end claims process regardless of size, including larger, complex or contentious claims arising with brokerage clients from investigation, evaluation, negotiation to settlementUtilise knowledge of insurance policies, coverage types, and claims procedures to assess and adjudicate claims within timelines and guidelinesCollaborate with internal departments, external vendors and other stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient resolutionAnalyse claims data, identify trends and develop strategies to mitigate risk and improve claims management processesProvide leadership, guidance and mentoring to the Claims Handler and junior team membersMaintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, insurers, loss adjusters/assessors and industry partners to enhance customer satisfactionStay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes and emerging technologiesPrepare and present reports and presentations with key performance indicatorsVisit clients during a loss to investigate circumstances and build a robust claim for a swift, favourable conclusionNegotiate with insurers to obtain favourable settlement terms within policy termsAct as an advocate for the claims function and settlementsKnowledge Strong understanding of insurance policies, coverage types and claims procedures (essential)Brokerage experience (essential)Understanding of general and legal principles of insuranceUnderstanding of relevant regulatory and legal frameworksSkills Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills (essential)Outstanding communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills (essential)Customer-focused approach (essential)Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentConfident, assertive and resilient under pressureAbility to provide constructive feedback, coaching and mentoring to support junior team members (essential)Ability to adapt to diverse personalities and cultures, fostering inclusive work environmentsExperience in providing emotional support and guidance to clients in difficult situations (essential)Qualifications GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)A levels (desirable)BDMA certificate β British Damage Management AssociateWhat we offer in return A career that you define.
