The Role
We now have an exciting opportunity to join us on a permanent basis as a Senior Policy Technician for our Financial Lines team. The team is part of Howden’s Specialty business, and the position is home-based with one day per week in the London office.
At Howden Senior Policy Technicians provide technical and administrative support across the broking team with their interactions with clients, producing brokers and underwriters, specifically providing assistance with the production of policy/cover documentation. The Policy Technician will work in conjunction with other members of the broking team to build documentation that is legally compliant and meets business requirements.
This role has come about due to growth across the Financial Lines business and will serve increased demand for policy technician services. We’re therefore seeking a strong candidate with prior technical expertise and a well-rounded understanding of the London Insurance market.
What you\’ll do
- Assist in the creation of comprehensive broking, client and other types of documents.
- Checking of slips, quotes and indications to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure up to date records are always maintained on the Company systems for the teams.
- Interpret instructions and issues arising, and then implement actions according to policies and procedures.
- Produces reports / MI to inform decision-making and actions.
- Retain a high level of knowledge of policy wording / requirements to provide advice and guidance.
- Utilises specific references and systems, for example CRYTSAL+ AXCO and TMF to ensure policy wording e.g. in relation to territory specific tax and legislative environments are adequately understood and appropriate.
Who we\’re looking for
- Experience in a similar role is needed, which is likely to be as a policy technician, wordings technician or account handler.
- Knowledge of financial lines products (D&O, PI, BBB, Cyber) preferred but not essential.
- Good technical knowledge of FCA regulations as they pertain to insurance intermediaries.
- Excellent understanding of processes and procedures within the insurance market.
- Excellent understanding of MRC v3 and MRCE.
- Attention to detail with ability to produce accurate documentation.
- Ability to work optimally within a team and answer queries from a variety of colleagues.
- Prioritisation and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and use initiative.
- GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English and Maths crucial.
- A level Grade A-C (or equivalent).
- Progression towards gaining professional qualifications is desired, but not essential (CII).
