Our team covers a broad range of insurance carrier and insurance services companies and offers expertise in M&A, capital raising, general strategic advice and Insurance‑Linked Securities.
While HCMA operates as its own entity, we sit within the Howden Re pillar which is the global reinsurance broker, and risk, capital and strategic advisor of Howden. Howden Re delivers specialised reinsurance brokerage services and analytical advice for our clients in 20 different countries worldwide.

What is the role?
As an Investment Banking Analyst, you will have the opportunity to contribute to some of the largest insurance investment banking deals. You will play an integral role in our team, working directly with junior and senior bankers and gain hands‑on experience in:
Merges and Acquisitions (M&A)
Public and Private Capital Offerings
Insurance‑Linked Security (ILS) offerings
Financial Advisory

What you’ll do
Interns develop their skills through broad and frequent exposure to both junior and senior bankers. You will gain knowledge and skills to build a strong career foundation in financial services.
Contribute to researching and identifying potential investment or financing opportunities, known as origination, a cross various deal types, including M&A, equity, de b ts and ILS deals.
Play an active role in keeping internal materials up to date such as company and investor profiles.
Build detailed financial models to evaluate performance under various operating scenarios and to analyse the impacts of different capital structures and potential M&A transactions.
Assist in preparation of company valuations involving using various methodologies including discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, trading comparables and trans‑action comparables.
Prepare presentation materials for use in client meetings; covering topics such as strategic alternatives, capital markets activity and general corporate finance.
Assist in preparation of company marketing documents and client presentations in addition to performing research and various analyses in support of new business generation.

Penultimate year student s who are studying towards a numerical‑based degree subject.

Strong mathematical and data analysis skills.

Prior investment banking experience is not required .
