Data Governance – Governance Analyst

The Position

We are seeking a Governance Analyst to help develop our business-critical data governance capabilities.

Summary of the role

Howden Group Services seeks a Data Governance practitioner with 2-3 years’ experience to support our Data Governance framework across the Group. You will help embed a culture of excellence, delivering Data Governance services to stakeholders and projects, under the guidance of the Governance Lead and Head of Data Governance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the Data Governance Framework and Operating Model.
  • Assist in defining policies, standards, and components within the Data Governance Framework, recommending improvements.
  • Collaborate with Group Data colleagues to implement good Data Governance practices.
  • Contribute to projects delivering new capabilities, services, and assets.
  • Integrate Data Governance risks and controls into the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance and Risk Indicators for Data Governance.
  • Support data governance literacy initiatives and communication strategies.
  • Prepare meeting materials and reports for data governance meetings.
  • Maintain and administer the data governance SharePoint site.
  • Ensure Data Owners and Data Champions are trained for their roles.

Requirements

Essential

  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Data Governance practitioner or similar role.
  • Experience with Data Governance in large organizations.
  • Ability to document Data Governance requirements clearly with business, data, and technical teams.
  • Experience implementing Data Governance projects.
  • Strong communication skills with stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to explain technical themes to non-technical partners.
  • Attention to detail with a big-picture understanding.
  • Good problem-solving skills.

Desired

  • Knowledge of Insurance broking or Financial Services.
  • Experience with Data Governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica).
  • Understanding of Risk Management and Data Quality Management.
