The Role
We are searching for an experienced Technical Sales Manager (TSM) to join our busy and talented Screw Bareshaft Compressor Sales Division based in Renfrew.
As a TSM, you will provide technical support to key accounts as well as develop new customer opportunities, identify key routes to market and build relationships to achieve sustainable growth. The successful individual should have previous Compressor experience, preferably Screw, and will be strong in business development, value selling and key account management. You will foster a winning culture within the team and wider Screw Value Stream, as well as supporting the development of regional strategies for the Screw Bareshaft product and work with Regional teams to create a true One Howden process approach to achieving Global bookings targets.
This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 8am until 4.15pm & Friday 8am until 2pm). We offer hybrid working for this role which will allow you to enjoy the balance of home working and time in the office with the team in our modern, friendly offices which include free onsite parking.

What will you do?

  • Primary focus to identify and secure high priority opportunities that will deliver sustainable growth.
  • Develop existing client’s revenue return through forming strong partnerships and providing the best product, commercial and service offering to enable them to succeed.
  • Solicit enquiries for the supply of screw bareshaft compressors, influencing clients where possible to specify Howden.
  • Manage and assist in the preparation of tenders and further clarification of clients and company requirements.
  • Negotiating contracts with clients while maintaining agreed contribution levels.
  • Ensure, negotiated contracts are correct and of sufficient detail to pass to the Project Department for execution.
  • Assist, when required, in liaison with clients after orders have been received.
  • Utilise the CRM (Salesforce) in recording enquiries, proposals, turndowns.
  • Identify and report on new market/territory opportunities for our products.
  • Complete forecasts on a Quarterly and Annual basis.
  • Support the marketing function through reports, client interface, and intelligence data gathering in territory.
  • Ensure adherence to company environmental, health and safety standards in compliance with company policies to ensure a safe working environment and the minimisation of environmental impact

What do you bring?
An Ideal Candidate Would Likely Have The Following Profile

  • Process Gas and/or Process Refrigeration – ideally API619.
  • Technical knowledge of Air Handling equipment (e.g. Screw Compressors) preferred.
  • High energy and passionate about Sales
  • High degree of commercial savvy
  • Excellent presentation and communication Skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills

It’s a bonus if you have (but not essential)

  • Degree educated in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Sales experience in a high value and high specification business
  • Knowledge of rotating machinery markets including EPCs, end user and licensors
  • Experience in global business development and account management
  • Experience in Project Terms & Conditions
