Technical Manager – Sheffield

Reporting to: Group QHSE & Technical Director

Role Requirements

To support the technical and metallurgical requirements of Howco Group with assistance of the Technical Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the business through answering internal and external technical queries.
• Support the Quality Assurance Manager.
• Root cause investigation of technical NCRs.
• Internal audits of QMS.
• Quarantine area reviews.
• Maintenance and review of Global mill suppliers.
• Support the Test lab Manager through Internal audits to ISO 17025.
• Witness of forging orders.
• Direction of heat treatment as required.
• Prepare manufacturing plans when required by Sales orders.
• Support the Sales and Purchasing Department on any technical related query.
• Leadership skills, problem solving skills, ability to mentor & support others.
• Commitment to log and report incidents.
• Competence and knowledge of all Group purchase specs and customer specs.
• Competence in Microsoft WORD package and HG IT systems, particularly QM, iMetal, QNG, MSS2.

Accountabilities and Performance Measures

• Working to a target of Zero accidents or near miss incidents.
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, environmental & quality policies and procedures of the company.
• Attainment of quality objectives.
• Maintenance of customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

• Customer focus approach to maintaining departmental throughput to meet order due date.
• Degree level qualification in metallurgy or related discipline or 5 years related experience.
• Knowledge of steel and nickel mill suppliers.
• Knowledge of local forge suppliers.
• Knowledge of Aerospace Technical & Quality requirements is desirable.
