The predicted salary is between 40000 - 50000 £ per year.

Manage and optimising all operational activities within the business. This includes inventory management (goods in/despatch), sawing, machining, heat treatment, testing, quality control, health & safety, and continuous improvement to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of products and services to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the operational infrastructure, its capability and performance, supports strategic requirements of the organisation.
  • Provide and demonstrate enthusiastic, positive and motivational leadership to your own and wider areas of the business.
  • Lead Operational Excellence and C.I. programs to monitor and improve the operational effectiveness of the business.
  • Implementation of Visual Management to improve Workplace Organization, SOP’s, KPI Visibility and Comprehension for all employees.
  • Standardise a data and system driven approach to Capacity Planning, Scheduling, Work to Lists, Daily Operational meetings.
  • Identify development of the current operation, through process improvement or capital expenditure projects to support future and planned strategic needs.
  • Ensure that operations performs to the highest standards to support financial targets, revenue recognition and cost control.
  • Foster and drive a culture of ‘one business’ between all departments to improve collaboration and optimum use of facilities to support our organisational and customer needs.
  • Mentoring and Development of operational team members and high potential employees to improve the overall performance of the business.
  • Produce weekly/monthly reports to the Directors, enabling analysis of performance and identification of operational improvements.

Excellent people management and leadership skills combined. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in written form, with strong presentation skills. Will show and maintain composure and professionalism in high pressure environments. Excellent planning and organisational skills. Ability to adapt to changing situations. Ability to evaluate, challenge existing situations, implement improvements and bring about effective change.

Accountabilities and Performance Measures

  • Accountability for all aspects of operational performance and all KPI’s related to SQDC.
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance regularly requirements, particularly related to QHSE to promote a culture of safe working practices across operations.
  • Accountable for driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, improve quality, and increase profitability.

Job Requirements Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in a previous senior Operations/Production Management role within a medium to heavy engineering environment.
  • Experience of leading multi disciplined teams from order receipt to despatch.
  • A track record of delivering and exceeding KPI’s related to operational performance targets.
  • Qualified to a minimum of HNC/HND level or similar vocational accreditations.
  • Qualified in Operational Excellence competencies such as six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or other Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of ERP/MRP systems.
