Howard James Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Consultant on behalf of a well-established and growing consultancy. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated health and safety professional who enjoys working across a variety of industries, building strong client relationships, and providing practical, commercial health and safety solutions.
This is a varied, client-facing role where no two days are the same. You'll work with organisations across multiple sectors, carrying out audits, inspections, risk assessments, training and consultancy services, helping clients improve compliance while embedding practical health and safety best practice.
The Role
- Conducting health and safety audits, inspections and compliance reviews across a variety of client sites.
- Producing detailed reports, legal compliance reviews and prioritised action plans.
- Completing a range of risk assessments including manual handling, DSE, COSHH and general workplace assessments.
- Supporting clients with the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of health and safety management systems.
- Providing practical health and safety advice to clients across a range of industries.
- Assisting with accident and incident investigations and preparing detailed investigation reports.
- Liaising with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders where required.
- Delivering health and safety training, presentations and workshops.
- Supporting clients with day-to-day health and safety management and, where required, providing interim consultancy support.
- Building and maintaining strong, professional relationships with clients.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You will ideally have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience within a Health & Safety role or consultancy environment.
- A good working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Confidence communicating with people at all levels of an organisation.
- A professional, proactive and customer-focused approach.
- A full UK Driving Licence.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Tech IOSH membership or higher.
- Experience within construction, manufacturing, engineering or similar sectors.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Fire Safety.
- Experience delivering health and safety training.
