Role Overview

As a Day Centre Support Worker, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care and support to adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. You will help individuals engage in meaningful activities, promote independence, and maintain a safe, positive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support service users with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours throughout the day.

  • Assist with personal care tasks, ensuring dignity and respect.

  • Encourage and facilitate participation in social, educational, and recreational activities.

  • Support clients to develop life skills and promote independence.

  • Manage challenging behaviour safely using appropriate de-escalation techniques.

  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of care and progress.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals.

  • Transport service users to and from the day centre using your own vehicle.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care) desirable but not essential.

  • Willingness to undertake training as required.
