Location: Nottingham

As a HS&E Manager, you can demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, you will be a strategic thinker who is decisive and can influence. You will relish making a difference and be motivated by the challenge of seeing your actions driving improvements. You will strive to prevent accidents, injuries and work-related illnesses. In this role you will advise on controls to mitigate health, safety and environmental risk and identify areas for improvement.

You’re not the type to spend all day in an office. This role is not for somebody who has lost their spark or passion for health and safety as you will be constantly seeking new ways to engage people into a safer way of working. You will be someone who will integrate our values of quality, accountability and trust into what you do every day.

The role isn’t just Health and Safety, you will also be managing environmental aspects with no two days being the same. In this role, you will recognise and challenge behaviours, bring people on a continuous improvement journey, and be able to make decisions in a timely manner. You will be confident in providing comprehensive support and advice to ensure site compliance.

Key requirements

  • NEBOSH diploma in occupational health and safety
  • Experience in HS&E change management
  • Good knowledge of Health Safety and Environmental legislation and be able to apply it to Hovis
  • Knowledge of ISO14001
  • Experience of implementation of accident prevention programme
  • Experience of developing and maintaining metrics associated with culture change
  • Ability to influence and present at senior level
  • Ability to design and conduct H&S based training for groups of people
  • Experience working with union safety representatives
