We are seeking to appoint a reliable, proactive and hardworking Facilities Assistant to support the smooth day-to-day running of our school site. Working under the direction of the Superintendent and senior staff, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Opening, closing and securing the school site, including routine security checks and alarm operation
  • Supporting the maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds
  • Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance (e.g. basic plumbing, changing light fittings, DIY tasks)
  • Assisting with cleaning duties, waste disposal, litter picking and keeping external areas safe (including gritting in winter)
  • Preparing rooms and moving furniture/equipment for lessons, events and lettings
  • Supporting contractors on site and ensuring works are completed safely
  • Identifying and reporting faults, hazards and maintenance issues
  • Supporting the smooth running of lettings and site use outside of the school day

What we are looking for:

  • Have practical DIY or maintenance skills
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Be organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment
  • Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and good communication skills
  • Have an understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Be physically able to carry out manual tasks, including moving equipment and furniture

Previous experience in a caretaking, site or facilities role is desirable but not essential.
