This is a unique and high‑profile role where your work can shape national conversations, from examining NHS performance and social care reform to influencing policy that impacts everyday lives.
Working within the Select Committee Team, you’ll collaborate closely with MPs from across the political spectrum, providing impartial, evidence‑based policy advice and analysis. You’ll play a key role in inquiries, identifying expert witnesses, preparing briefing materials, advising during committee sessions, and drafting impactful reports that can influence government thinking and public understanding. You’ll also have opportunities to develop your expertise, lead on elements of committee work, organise events and visits, and build relationships with senior stakeholders across the public, private and third sectors. This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office.
Benefits: Generous annual leave starting at 30 days and increasing to 35 after one full working year. Flexible working options that help you find a balance including enhanced maternity, paternity, shared parental and adoption leave, caring leave and alternative working patterns.
What we’re looking for: You’ll have a detailed knowledge and understanding of issues in health and/or social care policy and the roles of the key organisations in the sector, with relevant research, practical or scrutiny experience. It would be particularly beneficial if your knowledge and experience included any of the following:
- Financial, commissioning and accountability arrangements across any part of the health and social care system;
- Digital and information systems used across the health and social care system.
You can effectively research and analyse information from a range of sources, developing your understanding of new topics and using this to form clear, evidence‑based recommendations. You build strong, positive relationships with a wide range of people, using effective communication and collaboration to achieve shared outcomes. You manage your time and workload effectively, confidently prioritising tasks and adapting to changing demands to meet deadlines. You communicate clearly and confidently, producing concise written work and explaining complex information in an accessible and impartial way.
