To be responsible for Health & Safety within the home, overseeing the general maintenance, décor, and fabric of the home and grounds. To ensure the service delivered promotes the independence, dignity, rights, and choices of the people we support. The postholder will also be required to respond to emergency situations within the home outside of normal working hours as required (enhanced out-of-hours pay applicable).

Skills and experience required:

  • Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance tasks throughout the home.
  • Undertake basic plumbing repairs.
  • Undertake basic electrical repairs and TV adjustments where appropriate.
  • Repair or replace mattresses as required.
  • Ensure the home’s décor, fixtures, fittings, and environment are maintained to a high standard.
  • Identify and report any maintenance issues requiring specialist contractors.
  • Carry out regular Health & Safety, fire safety, and Legionella compliance checks.
  • Test fire alarm systems in line with procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance records are completed accurately and submitted as required.
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Maintain gardens, hedges, pathways, and external areas of the home.
  • Ensure access routes remain safe and accessible throughout the year.
  • Grit paths, entrances, and access routes during periods of icy or frosty weather.
  • Carry out carpet cleaning and other environmental maintenance tasks as required.
  • Complete errands such as delivering blood samples, collecting prescriptions, and other essential items.
  • Purchase supplies for the kitchen and residents as required.
  • Support the smooth running of the home through practical and responsive assistance.
  • Promote residents' independence, dignity, rights, and choices at all times.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance and facilities situations outside normal working hours as required.
  • Take appropriate action to minimise risk and disruption to residents and the service.

Due to the nature of this post, the role is subject to an Enhanced with Adult Barred DBS disclosure.
