Housing for Women is a registered charity and independent housing association. We champion female empowerment by providing and promoting affordable homes for women and gender‑specific support services. Since 1934, we have been working to build a more equal society for women, a world where everyone has a safe roof over their head regardless of circumstance, where violence against women is no longer tolerated.

We are now looking for a DVA Support Worker to join us on a full‑time basis (37.5 hours per week), for a six‑month fixed‑term contract, with the possibility of extension. The expected start date is late June to early July 2026. Please note that this is an onsite role (not hybrid or remote).

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced support worker with a background in domestic abuse services to join our mission‑led organisation. In this highly impactful role, you will have the chance to support women and their families at some of the most challenging times in their lives, helping them to rebuild safety, independence and confidence. Role

As a DVA Support Worker, you will provide safe, empowering, and person‑centred support to women and their children affected by domestic abuse, either in their home or refuge setting. Managing your own designated caseload, you will deliver tailored support through risk assessments, safety planning and individual support plans, while providing guidance around housing, welfare, legal rights, and access to health and specialist services. Alongside this, you will oversee referrals and inductions, support resettlement and move‑on planning, and work closely with partner agencies to ensure each user receives the right support at the right time. Additionally, you will:

  • Support access to healthcare, education, training and employment
  • Monitor rent accounts and support arrears management
  • Manage voids and respond to breaches of licence agreements
  • Report repairs and support property maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure GDPR compliance
  • Support and develop volunteers and new team members

About You

To be considered as a DVA Support Worker, you will need:

  • At least one year’s experience supporting adults with complex needs, ideally within a domestic abuse setting
  • Experience undertaking assessments, including risk assessments, and developing support plans
  • An understanding of domestic abuse frameworks and approaches (e.g. MARAC, safeguarding)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to maintain accurate records and produce reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • A proactive and organised approach to managing workload

Due to the sensitive nature of this service, this post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and is open to women only. (Exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1).
