Location: Our Dartford office (Crossways Business Park), with travel to work with our Surveyors in Kent, Essex, South London and Sussex

Salary: £30,287 - £37,858 per annum plus Car Allowance of £2,411 per annum

At Moat, we’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Trainee Surveyor, where you’ll gain hands‑on experience, develop technical expertise, and play a vital role in maintaining and improving our homes and communities. We will also support you by funding further education to progress your surveying career.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assist with property inspections and surveys, diagnosing defects and recommending solutions
  • Support the delivery of repairs, maintenance, and improvement programmes
  • Help design and specify works, obtain estimates, and monitor project costs
  • Work with contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and quality checks
  • Support fire safety, asbestos surveys, and compliance activities
  • Help resolve customer enquiries and complaints, ensuring excellent service
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to management reports

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with a strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a genuine interest in building a career in surveying.

Essential

  • Strong written communication
  • Advanced MS Office skills (especially Word and Excel)
  • Strong administration and organisational abilities
  • Confidence in producing reports and presenting information
  • Ability to take accurate meeting minutes
  • Access to transport or a full driving licence

Desirable

  • Building/construction related qualification
  • Awareness of the social housing sector
  • Experience in a customer service or call centre environment
