We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Stock Condition Surveyor to help us maintain safe, high-quality homes and support the wellbeing of our communities. You will play a key role in gathering accurate stock condition data and ensuring our properties remain compliant, well-maintained and fit for the future.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out property inspections and condition surveys, recording accurate data and identifying defects or hazards.
  • Coordinating access across a wide range of homes, working closely with colleagues, customers and external survey partners to keep programmes on track.
  • Providing clear, practical advice on repairs and home condition, helping residents understand how to prevent issues like damp and condensation.
  • Reviewing survey cycles, following up on overdue visits and tackling access challenges with a positive, solution-focused approach.
  • Working confidently in varied environments, including roof spaces and at height, while upholding high safety standards.
  • Handling customer queries and complaints professionally, communicating in a way that builds trust and supports positive outcomes.
  • Keeping detailed, reliable records and using data insights to highlight trends and improvements.
  • Supporting colleagues by sharing knowledge, offering guidance and contributing to a collaborative working culture.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience of responsive repairs or surveying in a social housing or domestic maintenance setting.
  • Strong understanding of building construction, inspections, property standards and relevant legislation.
  • Ability to diagnose issues, prepare schedules of work and make balanced, evidence-based decisions.
  • Confident, clear communication with customers, colleagues and contractors — especially in challenging situations.
  • A proactive, dependable approach with the ability to manage your workload, stay organised and adapt to changing demands.
  • A willingness to work flexibly to achieve survey programme targets, with occasional early morning, evening or weekend appointments to support customer circumstances.
  • Comfortable using IT systems and maintaining accurate, well-structured records.
  • A commitment to providing fair, respectful and inclusive customer service.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.

Desirable:

  • HNC in Building Construction (or similar), trade background, CSTDB/CSRT, or membership of RICS/CIOB.
