Karbon is seeking a Safer Communities Officer (Domestic Abuse) to join our Community Safety Team. This role focuses on supporting victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse and delivering high-quality, customer-focused service to residents in Karbon Homes housing stock. We are looking for a passionate and skilled individual who wants to make a difference in the communities we serve.

The role specialises in providing high-quality, customer-focused service to victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse across Karbon Homes housing stock. You will be working within the Community Safety Team where other Safety Communities Officer provision involves a pro-active approach to prevent and tackle anti-social behaviour. You’ll manage a caseload of domestic abuse cases and carry out associated administrative tasks, keeping detailed case notes and ensuring investigations are completed in line with all legal and non-legal remedies. You’ll work in collaboration with team members and legal advisors, preparing and supporting colleagues with producing documentation, reports, issuing and serving notices of intention to seek possession, injunctions or other legal notices for domestic abuse within tight deadlines. You’ll be expected to attend court on behalf of the organisation as required. You’ll be expected to have an excellent understanding of various support agencies available and will make support referrals where necessary for both victims and perpetrators.

You’ll wow us with your enthusiasm and demonstrate that you have the ability, attitude and interpersonal skills to build strong and effective relationships with customers and colleagues and support the work of Karbon in our communities. It goes without saying that you’ll have good organisation, time management and ICT skills. But most importantly you’ll be great with people.

Key Details

  • Safer Community Officer (DA) – permanent role
  • Salary is £35,995 per annum (pro rata) plus a Karbon car payment of £2,317 per annum (pro rata)
  • Location: Gosforth, Stanley, Teesside (to be agreed)
  • Regular travel will be required
  • 18.5 Hours per week (over 3 days) with agile working
