We’re looking for Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) during our busy spring and summer period. These roles play an important part in keeping our neighbourhoods clean, safe and well maintained for our residents. Fixed-term contracts ending 30th September 2026.

As part of our Grounds Maintenance team, you’ll help maintain open spaces, communal areas and gardens across our communities. You’ll work alongside colleagues in our wider Property Services team to deliver a reliable, high-quality service, always with a strong focus on safety and customer care. All work is carried out with a “Right First Time” approach — completing tasks to a high standard while treating residents, their homes and belongings with respect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine grass cutting and general maintenance of open spaces and communal areas.
  • Complete garden clearance to return areas to a maintainable standard.
  • Undertake routine garden maintenance at occupied properties, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning, weeding and basic plant care.
  • Support tree maintenance tasks as required.
  • Safely operate and carry out basic maintenance of grounds maintenance machinery and equipment in line with Health & Safety regulations.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working in a grounds maintenance or similar outdoor environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Experience using associated plant and machinery such as ride-on mowers, hand mowers, hedge cutters, strimmers and blowers.
  • Ability to use a range of hand tools including rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows.
  • Willingness and ability (with assistance where required) to move equipment and materials and help with removal of garden waste, bulk items and fly-tipped materials.
  • Experience delivering a customer-focused service.
Desirable
  • NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture (or similar).
  • Full UK driving licence.
