Karibu Community Homes was created in April 2024 through the merger of Inquilab and Westway Housing Associations, becoming the UK’s largest Black and Minority Ethnic-led housing provider. \”Karibu\” means “Welcome” in Swahili – a name that reflects our commitment to inclusivity, belonging, and community. Today, we manage over 1,900 homes across London and the South East, serving thousands of residents with one clear mission: to provide safe, sustainable homes and deliver services people trust and value.
Role Overview
Director of Asset and Development – a customer-focused leader who can think strategically and deliver results that matter to the communities we serve. This role centres on asset management, ensuring our homes are safe, well‑maintained, and future‑ready, while also supporting our ambitions for growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of our Asset Management Strategy, driving planned investment, maintenance, and compliance programmes that deliver value for money and meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
- Champion excellent customer service, ensuring repairs and maintenance are delivered efficiently and with care.
- Advise the Board and Chief Executive on asset performance, sustainability, and opportunities for reinvestment.
- Play a visible leadership role across the organisation, collaborating with colleagues, engaging stakeholders, and connecting with the communities we serve.
- Help shape development activity by creating new homes through infill sites and partnerships.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in asset management within the housing or property sectors.
- Strong commercial acumen and a commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work at a strategic level, manage budgets and resources effectively, and influence at all levels.
- Development experience is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to lead with integrity and align with our values.
