Hawthorn Housing Cooperative are seeking a new leader to work with the Committee to take forward the organisation. The post holder will build on the legacy of progress made over the last decade and take over from our outgoing Director who will be retiring in October/November this year. The Co‑op is at the heart of the community in Possilpark and has a track record in partnership working. We pride ourselves on providing high‑quality homes and services for our community. Our people are central to our success, and we’re looking for a leader who will live by and promote our values and culture, to achieve our strategic objectives.

This post is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the Co‑op. The Director ensures the effective use of resources, compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, and the delivery of high‑quality services that reflect the needs and aspirations of our tenants and communities.

We are seeking a dynamic, people centric and inspirational leader who has the passion and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with tenants, staff, partners and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will embody an ethos of customer service and joint working. The ability to balance a strategic mindset with strong operational delivery, as well as demonstrate strong commercial acumen, will also be key requirements.

You should have a background in Housing and have the technical expertise to support the Committee in fulfilling its governance responsibilities, ensuring compliance with the Scottish Housing Regulator’s Regulatory Framework. Expertise in Asset Management is also a critical requirement. Furthermore, it’s essential that you are degree educated or have a relevant professional qualification. Membership of a relevant professional body or equivalent is also needed.

This role will especially appeal to those with senior level housing experience who are attracted and excited by the opportunity to lead a housing co‑operative and experience the unique benefits this organisational model provides, e.g. connecting even more deeply with the community you serve and acting as the main ambassador for the cooperative in wider regeneration work being progressed through relevant partnership fora. It also offers an excellent opportunity for those seeking to step up into a Director level position within housing.

If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
