Overview

Hours: 18 hours per week. Shift Pattern: Covering two nights a week, 21:00 – 07:00 and alternate weekends. As a Care Worker with Housing 21 you’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team, working to help residents live independently in their own apartments within our schemes. Our schemes also offer communal lounges, gardens, cafés/bistros and hair salons for residents to enjoy. You’ll build strong relationships with familiar residents and colleagues every day and be part of the Extra Care family.

Responsibilities

  • Support with household and domestic tasks, such as laundry, shopping, cleaning, and handling financial transactions like paying bills.
  • Prepare meals, drinks and snacks as needed.
  • Encourage and enable residents to follow agreed care plans.
  • Assist residents with getting up in the morning and provide personal care including washing/bathing and dressing; help with undressing and going to bed in the evening, and ensure medication is taken as required.
  • Put resident wellbeing at the heart of the service and keep managers and key agencies informed of progress.

About you / Qualifications

  • You don’t need experience or any qualifications to be a Care Worker; just a positive attitude and kind manner.
  • If you have cared for a relative or friend, raised children, or helped a neighbour with shopping or gardening, you already display many of the required skills.
  • Willingness to undertake necessary further training; ability to use your initiative; reliability and flexibility; good written and verbal English communication skills; a genuine desire to help people; and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Paid by the hour (not by the job): £13.32 per hour, with full-time equivalent £24,306 per annum based on 35 hours per week.
