An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Technical Assurance & Design Management Team to help shape the technology, digital infrastructure and operational systems that underpin one of the UK’s most important and high‑profile heritage programmes. We are seeking a Senior Technology and Systems Engineer to provide expert technical leadership across a portfolio of advanced building systems, operational technologies and critical digital infrastructure within the Restoration and Renewal Programme.

Working within the Technical Assurance and Design Management (TADM) Engineering team, you will ensure that complex systems are secure, resilient, future‑ready and effectively integrated within the uniquely challenging environment of the Palace of Westminster. This is a rare opportunity to work client‑side on a programme of national importance, contributing to the stewardship of an internationally significant heritage estate.

You will lead the technical assurance of complex systems, ensuring designs meet requirements for security, safety and performance. Working with multidisciplinary teams, consultants and stakeholders, you will support system integration and develop and maintain engineering standards and specifications across areas such as ICT and communications, cybersecurity, building management systems (BMS), security and surveillance, and broadcast, audio and acoustic technology.

With strong experience in complex systems integration within the built environment, you will bring a strategic and rigorous approach to technology engineering, alongside the ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly to both specialist and non‑specialist audiences.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in complex building or operational technology systems engineering within major project live operational environments.
  • Experience of assuring technical design and construction proposals.
  • Strong knowledge of technologies such as ICT infrastructure, cybersecurity, building automation systems (BMS/BAS), security systems, and broadcast, audio and acoustic technology.
  • Experience operating within highly regulated, security‑sensitive, or operationally complex organisations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly and diplomatically.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to quality, transparency and effective problem solving.

Salary circa £90,000 per annum. Benefits include:

  • Competitive salary
  • 30 days holiday plus public holidays
  • Discretionary bonus scheme depending on both corporate and individual performance
  • Life assurance of 4 × salary death in service
  • Group Income Protection
  • Pension – up to 10% employer contribution
  • Up to 5 days paid volunteering
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Season ticket loan
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Professional Body Fees paid
  • Working in a hybrid/smart way

We are committed to promoting diversity and equal opportunities in employment. We are building diverse teams and seek to attract and retain talented individuals from a range of backgrounds and cultures to join us on this hugely challenging and important project.

Successful candidates will be required to complete security vetting to a minimum Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) level obtained through the Parliamentary Security Department (PSD). Candidates are required to pass these checks before a start date can be confirmed. Applicants should also be aware that, depending on the role applied for, if they have resided outside of the UK for a total of more than two of the last five years, they may not be eligible for vetting.
