We are seeking an ARB‑registered Architect to support the delivery of architectural design assurance across the Restoration and Renewal Programme. Working within the Technical Assurance and Design Management (TADM) team, you will help ensure that design proposals for the Temporary Accommodation for the House of Lords – and potentially elements of the Palace of Westminster – meet the highest standards of quality, technical rigour, and design integrity. This is a rare opportunity to work client‑side on a programme of national importance, contributing to the stewardship of an internationally significant heritage estate while operating within a complex, highly governed public‑sector environment.

You will support the Senior Architect in articulating the Programme’s architectural vision and design principles, reviewing and assuring design outputs, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and supply‑chain partners. With a strong technical focus, you will contribute to design development primarily across RIBA Stages 3–4 (and ideally Stage 5), with particular involvement in façade design, external realm, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Working closely with internal colleagues, consultants, contractors, and Parliamentary stakeholders, you will help maintain robust design assurance processes, support statutory approvals, and contribute to reports, presentations and workshops. You will be a clear communicator, able to explain design intent and technical issues to both specialist and non‑specialist audiences and will occasionally deputise for the Senior Architect.

You’ll bring:

  • ARB registration with around five years’ post‑registration experience on complex projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building services, external realm design, and façade detailing.
  • Experience through RIBA Stages 3–4 (and ideally Stage 5).
  • A collaborative approach, with proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and supply chains.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A commitment to quality, inclusivity and the Programme’s values, including equality, diversity and inclusion.

You will also be willing to develop subject‑matter expertise in specialist areas such as access and inclusion or catering design, supported by appropriate training. If you are an architect who thrives in a technically challenging environment – and who wants to contribute to a programme of lasting national significance – we would welcome your application.

Salary circa ÂŁ50,000 per annum. Benefits include:

  • 30 days holiday plus public holidays
  • Discretionary bonus scheme depending on both corporate and individual performance
  • Life assurance of 4 x salary death in service
  • Group Income Protection
  • Pension – up to 10% employer contribution
  • Up to 5 days paid volunteering
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Season ticket loan
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Professional Body Fees paid
  • Working in a hybrid / smart way

We are committed to promoting diversity and equal opportunities in employment. We are building diverse teams and seek to attract and retain talented individuals from a range of backgrounds and cultures to join us on this hugely challenging and important project.

Please apply by submitting a CV and cover letter, stating your suitability for the role and if you believe you have any current or potential conflicts of interest relating to this position. We look forward to receiving your completed application by 12 noon on 26 January 2026.

Successful candidates will be required to complete security vetting to a minimum Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) level obtained through the Parliamentary Security Department (PSD). Candidates are required to pass these checks before a start date can be confirmed. Applicants should also be aware that, depending on the role applied for, if they have resided outside of the UK for a total of more than two of the last five years, they may not be eligible for vetting.
