Alto Software Group is a B2B SaaS company that powers more than half of all UK housing transactions each year. We create software solutions that connect businesses and consumers, delivering a one-stop shop for estate agents and home builders. Our goal is to drive efficiency, speed up transactions, reduce risk, and improve the end-customer experience.

While we’re not a startup, we operate with a startup mindset. We’re looking for people who share this mentality and are ready to tackle big ambitions. This is a fast-growing and exciting business going through significant change, and there’s never been a better time to join us.

We’re looking for an Engineering Operations Manager to drive further operational excellence and data-driven rigour to our engineering organisation. This role will serve as the operational backbone of engineering, ensuring our teams have the right tools, data, and processes to deliver efficiently, securely, and consistently.

You will be responsible for tooling governance, access management, engineering metrics, and process coordination across our engineering function. Working closely with the Head of Platform and Data Engineering, Engineering Leadership, and Security, you’ll align systems, automate workflows, and deliver high-quality reporting that enables better decision-making.

Responsibilities
  • Tooling Administration & Governance
    • Manage and maintain core engineering tools ensuring consistent configuration and access across teams
    • Administer engineer onboarding and offboarding, maintaining consistent identity and permissions across systems via SSO, SCIM, and role-based access controls
    • Maintain an accurate inventory of engineering tools, licences, and integrations
    • Own vendor relationships for engineering tooling, including contract renewals, licence optimisation, and cost management
    • Monitor tool spend against budget, identify opportunities to consolidate or rationalise tooling, and support procurement processes for new tools
    • Partner with the Head of Platform and Data Engineering to ensure tooling decisions align with platform strategy and infrastructure standards
  • Metrics, Reporting & Data Operations
    • Develop and maintain dashboards providing visibility into engineering productivity, velocity, and quality (DORA metrics, AI adoption, release cadence)
    • Presenting and reporting on data from multiple systems (GitHub, Jira, CI/CD, Databricks) to support continuous improvement within engineering
  • Process & Operational Enablement
    • Coordinate engineering-wide processes including team onboarding, tool provisioning, change management, and incident response reviews
    • Collaborate with Finance and Procurement to track and forecast tool costs and licence utilisation
    • Maintain and publish operational documentation, playbooks, and checklists
    • Support engineering managers in aligning ways of working across teams to ensure consistent, predictable delivery
  • Leadership Support & Operations Coordination
    • Partner with the Director of Engineering and senior leaders to deliver monthly operational reports covering key metrics, resourcing, and productivity insights
    • Coordinate weekly engineering updates to maintain visibility of progress, blockers, and key initiatives
    • Support the organisation of engineering offsites, all-hands, and quarterly reviews
    • Act as liaison between Engineering, People, and Finance to maintain accurate organisational data and facilitate cross-functional communication
Benefits
  • Everyday Flex – greater flexibility over where and when you work
  • 25 days annual leave + extra days for years of service
  • Day off for volunteering & Digital detox day
  • Festive Closure – business closed for period between Christmas and New Year
  • Cycle to work and electric car schemes
  • Free Calm App membership
  • Enhanced Parental leave
  • Fertility Treatment Financial Support
  • Group Income Protection and private medical insurance
  • Gym on-site in London
  • 7.5% pension contribution by the company
  • Discretionary annual bonus up to 10% of base salary
  • Talent referral bonus up to £5K
