Our client is a highly respected organiser of large-scale B2B exhibitions, conferences and industry events, delivering market-leading experiences for thousands of attendees, exhibitors and sponsors each year. As part of continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Operations Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of established trade events and lead operational delivery from planning through to onsite execution. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced events professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a proven track record delivering complex, large-scale exhibitions and conferences.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will oversee the operational planning and delivery of a portfolio of major B2B events, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on budget and to the highest possible standards. You will work closely with internal teams across Sales, Marketing, Content, Sponsorship, Design and Finance, while managing relationships with venues, contractors, suppliers and exhibitors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the end-to-end operational delivery of multiple large-scale exhibitions and conferences
  • Managing all event operations including venue services, floorplans, registration systems, logistics, security, signage, feature areas, AV, rigging and contractor management
  • Acting as the senior operational lead during build-up, live event days and breakdown
  • Managing operational budgets and ensuring projects are delivered within agreed financial targets
  • Negotiating and managing supplier contracts and service agreements
  • Driving operational efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Overseeing exhibitor operations, communications and customer experience processes
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless event delivery
  • Leading all aspects of health & safety, compliance and risk management
  • Managing and developing junior members of the operations team

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll be an experienced event operations professional with a strong background in large-scale B2B exhibitions and conferences.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience delivering large-scale trade exhibitions and conferences
  • Strong experience managing operational budgets and supplier relationships
  • Proven track record overseeing complex event logistics and onsite delivery
  • Experience working with exhibition venues, contractors and stand build processes
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and event compliance requirements
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and budget management capability
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or equivalent)
  • AutoCAD experience
