We’re looking for an experienced Head of Finance to join our growing client and take ownership of the company’s financial operations while the current Head of Finance is on maternity leave. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to lead a small finance team, work closely with directors and advisors, and play a key role in the strategic financial management of the business.

The successful candidate will manage a team of two and oversee all core finance functions, including monthly management accounts, cashflow forecasting, payment authorisation, loan management, and banking relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Cashflow forecasting and financial oversight
  • Managing and mentoring a small finance team
  • Authorising payments and overseeing company expenditure
  • Managing company loans and banking relationships
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Applying correct VAT treatments, including:
    • 0% VAT for new builds
    • 5% VAT for empty property conversions
  • Maintaining accurate journals and double-entry accounting records
  • Hosting and supporting quarterly board meetings with directors and financial advisors
  • Supporting wider business operations with financial insight and reporting
About You
  • Strong accounting background - part-qualified, fully qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Excellent understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and journals
  • Experience preparing VAT returns and applying complex VAT treatments
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Confident managing financial processes and authorising payments
  • Previous team management experience preferred
  • Sage experience would be advantageous
  • Property sector experience would be beneficial, though not essential
