We're looking for an Enquiry Executive to join the House of Commons Library, part of the Research and Information team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of Parliament, supporting MPs and their staff by providing accurate, impartial and trusted statistical information to inform debate, shape policy and support constituents.
Based in the Social and General Statistics (SGS) Section, you'll be part of a busy and supportive team working across a wide range of policy areas such as health, education, crime, housing, and the environment. You'll play a key role in responding to research requests, preparing statistics and contributing to briefings for parliamentary debates, helping ensure that high‑quality information is available when it matters most.
This is a fast‑paced and varied role, where no two days are the same. You'll engage directly with MPs and their offices, manage incoming enquiries, and collaborate with subject specialists to deliver timely and impactful work that contributes to the functioning of Parliamentary democracy. This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office.
You are comfortable in dealing with numerical information and spreadsheets and keen to enhance and develop these skills. You are able to use research skills to find and assess appropriate sources. You have experience of finding reliable, accurate and relevant information. You understand the importance of providing impartial and trusted research for MPs.
You communicate clearly both orally and in writing and can explain complex information to diverse and non‑specialist audiences. You are able to plan, prioritise and organise your own workload to meet deadlines, while maintaining high quality standards. You are able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, and will uphold our principles of equality, diversity, inclusion and political impartiality at all times.
