As a Storekeeper, you'll play an important role in supporting the UK's parliamentary democracy.

Your work will help Members carry out their responsibilities effectively - contributing to something bigger than any one role.

You'll be part of a collaborative community, working alongside colleagues from a wide range of professions. Together, we make Parliament happen.

You'll be based on the Parliamentary Estate in Westminster - a unique working environment shaped by history and powered by the people who work here today.

Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team, you'll also play an important role in helping to manage the receipt, inspection, storage and distribution of food, beverages, cleaning materials, equipment and consumables across the Parliamentary Estate.

You'll contribute to the smooth running of catering operations by helping to ensure deliveries are received accurately, stock is stored safely, and inventory records are maintained to a high standard.

Working in line with food safety, quality assurance and stock control procedures, you'll help support an efficient and well-organised stores operation that enables colleagues to deliver excellent services.

This role is offered on a 25-hour per week contract and would suit someone who enjoys working as part of a team, has a good eye for detail and takes pride in providing reliable support.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you'll

• Play an important role in supporting catering operations by receiving, checking and accurately recording deliveries of food, beverages, equipment, consumables and other supplies.
• Help ensure deliveries are received correctly by checking quantities, temperatures, quality, date codes and packaging condition against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
• Promptly raise any discrepancies, shortages or concerns with the Head Storekeeper to support effective stock control and food safety standards.
• Assist in maintaining accurate delivery records, supplier documentation, stock records and credit notes in line with departmental procedures and the Food Safety Management System.
• Support the safe storage, labelling, distribution and organisation of stock within chilled, frozen and ambient storage areas.
• Contribute to stock ordering, replenishment, transfers and inventory management processes using designated systems and procedures.
• Assist with routine stock checks, stock takes and reconciliations, helping to maintain accurate records and identify any discrepancies.
• Support effective stock rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles and help minimise waste by monitoring stock dates and usage.

You'll have

• Experience of receiving, checking and recording deliveries accurately, with strong attention to detail.
• An understanding of food safety, health and safety, and stock control procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team, building positive relationships with colleagues and contributing to excellent service delivery.
• Experience of maintaining accurate stock records and supporting inventory management processes.
• Confidence in carrying out stock checks, stock counts and reconciliations accurately.
• An understanding of effective stock rotation and storage practices, helping to maintain quality standards and minimise waste.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to keep stores areas clean, well organised and operating efficiently.
• A proactive and reliable approach, with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and support colleagues where needed.
• Have a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent.

It would be even better if you have (or are willing to learn)

• Experience using stock control systems.
• Knowledge of delivery temperature controls and traceability procedures. Experience of stocktaking and inventory valuation.
• Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
