We are looking for skilled and committed Chef de Parties to join the Peers' Dining Group Restaurants within Catering and Retail Services at the House of Lords. This is a rare opportunity to work in a fine-dining restaurant environment within one of the UK's most prestigious and historic institutions.

As a Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking dishes to a consistently high standard, reflecting the quality, precision, and refinement expected in a fine-dining setting. You will maintain the highest food safety and hygiene standards, contribute to kitchen organisation and stock control, and demonstrate a working knowledge of computerised food safety and stock management systems.

Based on-site at Parliament, the Peers' Dining Group restaurants provide an elegant dining experience for Members and their guests. This is a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment where creativity, technical skill, and attention to detail are essential. You'll be part of a passionate culinary team delivering exceptional food and service, all within a workplace unlike any other.

You'll be accountable for:

  • Supporting the Sous Chef in the daily running of a kitchen section, ensuring fine-dining dishes are prepared and presented to specification.
  • Assisting with mise en place, cooking, and precise plating during service periods.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
  • Monitoring food safety procedures, including digital temperature probing and fridge/freezer logging.
  • Supporting stock control and inventory management.
  • Assisting with stock rotation and basic ordering tasks.
  • Contributing to the delivery of consistent quality across all catering outlets, including Members' fine-dining rooms, banqueting functions, staff dining, and retail cafés.

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen, ideally within a fine-dining or high-quality restaurant environment.
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene, HACCP, and allergen awareness.
  • Basic knowledge of computerised food safety and stock systems.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a professional kitchen team.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • A recognised culinary qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent).
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and double shifts, in line with service demands and operational requirements.

It would be even better if you had:

  • Experience working in a fine-dining, heritage, institutional, or government catering environment.
  • Familiarity with both British and international cuisines.
  • An interest in sustainable, seasonal, and ethical food practices.
