The Role and You

You are curious by nature and have been following the growing conversation around how businesses can move from extractive to regenerative systems.

You enjoy working on tough challenges that have real world impact.

You recognise nature gives us energy and find ways to connect with it whenever you can.

You thrive in the fast pace of an entrepreneurial and founder-led business with big ambition, where you have autonomy and license to design and implement change.

Responsible for building House of Hackney's capacity to live its mission - connecting strategy, people, product, Nature, evidence and external intelligence so regeneration becomes embedded throughout the organisation and contributes to wider change.

The role works across functions, bringing specialist regenerative and living-systems knowledge into decision-making and helping teams build the capability to apply the mission within their own work, evaluating and evolving results.

Our Purpose

House of Hackney is a restoration project rooted in Nature, Craft, Community and Awe!

Inspired by Nature’s living systems, we use creativity and business as catalysts to regenerate our common home.

We are deeply committed to shifting from being a B Corp sustainable business to a truly regenerative one, giving back more than we take.

We are a work in progress and the successful candidate will have an innovative and proactive approach in everything they do to support this commitment and our wider mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and steward the regenerative roadmap: priorities, milestones and measurable outcomes.
  • Integrate regeneration into core business strategy — rather than a parallel sustainability programme.

  • Identify dependencies, gaps and tensions in current practices and structures; maintain a whole-system view of progress.
  • Monitor relevant legislation and environmental standards; ensure compliance and implement required strategies.
  • Lead B Corp certification, driving continuous score improvement at each renewal.
  • Organisational Capability, Education & Communication
  • Sustain regenerative and living-systems understanding across the company; Creating simplified communication models to enable complex thinking where teams understand how their work connects to the wider mission
  • Develop an ongoing learning programme with People & Culture; ensure all new starters are properly inducted.
  • Energise the wider team for their regenerative journey bringing joy and excitement to the work
  • Coach functional leaders in applying regenerative principles; build practical frameworks and decision tools.
  • Facilitate cross-functional knowledge-sharing and progress reporting; bring in external expertise where needed.
  • Translate technical data and complex regenerative thinking into accessible organisational learning;
  • Work with Creative, Brand and Communications to ensure all regenerative claims are grounded in evidence.
  • Measurement, Evidence & Reporting
  • Establish baselines, targets and measures with Finance and functional leaders.
  • Support development of the Nature P&L - reporting on financial, social and environmental profit.

  • Turn experience into case studies and practical tools; ensure evidence feeds back into the regenerative roadmap.
  • Identify innovation opportunities across product, materials, culture, governance and measurement.
  • Connect internal challenges to external expertise; identify partners for challenges Ho H cannot solve alone.
  • Stay at the forefront of relevant industry development; identify knowledge gaps and recommend actions.
  • Document Ho H’s progress and learning to create accessible guides, tools and content for other SMEs.
  • Develop programme content with the leadership team to facilitate workshops supporting ‘Greenprint’ adoption.
  • Ensure all Greenprint outputs are underpinned by data and verified research.
  • Monitor Greenprint elements internally; recommend pivots to keep progress on track.
  • Represent Ho H at conferences, panels, roundtables, universities and in media as a practitioner voice.
  • Participate actively in regenerative-business, Nature, governance and sustainability networks. Build relationships with businesses, scientists, academics, NGOs and policymakers.
  • Use Ho H’s practical experience to influence wider industry practice and contribute to aligned advocacy.
  • Governance & Mission Integrity
  • Work with the MNFG board representative to ensure flagged concerns are resolved and actions executed; hold the business accountable while respecting the independence of that role.
