Our client is a very successful fashion brand house based in central Manchester and now looking to recruit a highly organised and detail-oriented Import Assistant Merchandiser to support the Import Merchandising team. This role is essential for managing samples, performing data entry, coordinating postage, and ensuring timely execution of the critical path. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to multitask efficiently, and work well in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Management: Receive, organise, and track incoming product samples with a focus on customer SMS and photo samples, ensuring these are logged and sent to customers correctly. Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to ensure timely sample delivery. Maintain sample inventory and provide updates as necessary to the merchandiser team. Boxing up samples no longer needed by the business.
- Data Entry: Accurately input and update product data, orders, and shipping information into the company's systems assisting the merch team with loading items cards and Po's and generating barcodes. Maintain and manage databases related to product specifications, shipment tracking, and sample details.
- Postage Coordination: Handle postage and shipping of samples and products, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery. Liaise with couriers and freight companies to manage inbound and outbound shipments. Track shipments and resolve any issues that arise during the shipping process.
- Critical Path Management: Assist in maintaining and updating the critical path for product development and import timelines, through communication with our partners and offices overseas. Monitor key milestones, deadlines, and communicate delays or issues to the merchandiser team updating the system with vessel information when received. Support the team in ensuring all deadlines are met and that products are delivered on time.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the Import Merchandising team as needed. Handle internal communications and follow up on any action items or outstanding issues.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Experience with data entry and basic understanding of import/export processes is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in retail, merchandising, or supply chain is an advantage but not required.
Education & Experience:
- University degree in business, logistics, fashion or related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in merchandising or a related field.
