Charlie Maynard MP for Witney is seeking a Constituency Support Manager for his busy constituency office. The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated self-starter, adept at working with people to solve problems, with strong political instincts. Hours are flexible. Applicants looking to work both full and part time (a minimum of three days per week) will be considered. Please specify the number of days per week you are available to work in your application.
Key responsibilities
- Driving forward campaigns, at a variety of scales, to address local issues and deliver solutions for residents.
- Organising and attending community meetings and taking forward actions arising from these.
- Engaging and maintaining positive relationships with key local stakeholders including councillors, community organisations, faith groups, local campaign groups, public service providers, local businesses and constituents.
- Monitoring local press, social media, and published data and reports about the constituency in order to keep up to date with developments in the local area and identify issues of concern to residents.
- Managing Charlie’s diary for days he is in the constituency (working with his Parliamentary Assistant, who manages the diary in Westminster).
- Working with the team’s communications officer to identify and manage topics for press releases and social media content.
- Working with members of the team in Westminster and the Caseworkers to help ensure a joined‑up approach to communicating and finding solutions to challenges in the constituency.
- Updating the MP and Local Party Website.
Required skills
- An ability to work with people to achieve results.
- An understanding of the role of an MP as a constituency representative and champion.
- An understanding of politics and strong political judgement.
- Experience in setting up and running local campaigns.
- Ability to manage in a fast‑paced work environment and juggle competing priorities.
- Supportive of the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
