What You’ll Be Doing

As a People Advisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality HR support across the House of Commons and Joint Departments. Working within the newly established People Management Team, you’ll provide practical, timely and solution‑focused HR advice that helps managers and teams navigate a wide range of people matters.

  • Provide high‑volume employee relations support, including case management and attending formal meetings such as grievance and disciplinary hearings.
  • Support HR projects including TUPE, restructures and HR system work.
  • Act as a first point of contact for HR advice, offering guidance on policies and procedures.
  • Produce, interpret and share HR data with managers to inform decision‑making.
  • Work closely with teams across PACT to deliver joined‑up HR services and contribute to workshops, briefings and policy development.
  • Maintain accurate HR records in line with legislation and departmental standards.
  • Deputise for Senior People Partners when required and provide cover for the HR Officer.
  • Contribute to recruitment and selection activities and support wider team priorities.
  • Develop your HR expertise and play an active role in establishing the team as a centre of excellence.

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a People Advisor who can bring strong HR expertise, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to inclusive practice. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Professional HR competence, ideally aligned to Associate level on the CIPD Profession Map.
  • Good working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice, with experience advising on contractual rights and responsibilities, organisational policies, procedures and HR processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and communicate clearly with people at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • A commitment to inclusion and diversity, supporting managers and employees to identify inclusive approaches and demonstrating inclusive behaviours in your day‑to‑day work.
  • Experience managing employee relations cases, providing clear guidance and supporting managers through formal hearings while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • The ability to identify and deliver practical, effective HR solutions that meet organisational needs and support positive outcomes.
