The Strategic Estates team delivers a safe, comfortable and efficient environment for all who work in or visit the House of Commons. Within Strategic Estates, the Heritage Collections Team (HCT) is responsible for the care and management of three nationally significant collections. These collections include historic furniture, decorative arts, architecture-related items, and artworks that document and enrich Parliament's history. HCT supports both Houses of Parliament, ensuring the responsible stewardship of collections within a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Heritage Collections Team is recruiting two fixed-term Storage Technicians to support the relocation of stored collections from multiple sites to a new storage facility. Working under the direction of the Lead Storage Technician, these hands-on roles involve object handling, overseeing transportation logistics, and ensuring all movement and storage processes meet professional standards.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • Overseeing the safe loading and unloading of heritage objects
  • Acting as a courier for object transfers to the new facility and/or conservation locations
  • Ensuring accurate object tracking by updating records in the collections management system
  • Liaising with transport providers, internal teams, and contractors
  • Complying with health and safety protocols and object handling best practices

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Experience in object movement and collections management within a museum, gallery, or heritage setting
  • Knowledge of professional standards for collections care, handling, and security
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording object movements
