As a Structural Calculations Engineer, you will play a key role in the detailed design and assessment of buildings and structural components within major nuclear and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for producing and reviewing structural calculations, ensuring designs meet project requirements, regulatory expectations, and relevant engineering standards. Working within multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will contribute to the development of technically robust and compliant structural solutions across complex and highly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and review detailed structural calculations for buildings and associated structural elements in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.
- Support the detailed design and assessment of reinforced concrete and steel structures within nuclear and infrastructure projects.
- Carry out structural analysis activities considering static, dynamic, seismic, and load combination requirements where applicable.
- Develop technical justifications, calculation notes, and engineering assessments to support design activities and project deliverables.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, layout, mechanical, HVAC, piping, electrical, nuclear safety, and construction teams to ensure coordinated design integration.
- Review and assess design changes, ensuring modifications are technically compliant and impacts are appropriately evaluated.
- Support the preparation and verification of engineering documentation including specifications, technical reports, and structural deliverables.
- Participate in technical reviews, coordination meetings, and design discussions with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, nuclear safety requirements, Eurocodes, and project-specific procedures.
- Support resolution of technical queries and engineering issues arising during design and construction phases.
- Contribute to maintaining design quality, configuration consistency, and project delivery milestones across structural work packages.
Who You Are
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience working on detailed structural design and calculation activities within highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, infrastructure, energy, or other complex industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles relating to reinforced concrete and steel structures.
- Familiarity with structural analysis methodologies, engineering calculations, and relevant design standards including Eurocodes.
- Experience producing structural calculation notes, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage technical interfaces across projects.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proactive approach with the ability to manage evolving technical requirements within complex project environments.
