Overview
Hough Green Garage is a market leader in 24-hour Breakdown & Recovery Services, established for over 40 years. We operate 24-hour, 365 days a year for Local Authorities, Blue Light Emergency Services and Motoring Organisations as well as private companies on a National basis. We are recruiting additional Class 2 Vehicle Recovery Drivers due to increased work volumes and new contracts. This is a varied and fast-paced role requiring a \”can do\” attitude, the ability to thrive under pressure, and the initiative to develop a dynamic and adaptive approach to all recovery scenarios. Our aim is to deliver a fast, efficient and professional service to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Attend Breakdowns & Accidents working on motorways and main roads throughout the operational area.
- Carry out daily checks / walk-arounds at the start of every shift.
- Perform weekly vehicle inventory checks.
- General housekeeping on vehicles and depots/yards.
- Ensure safe removal / delivery of all customer vehicles.
- Complete job requirements on company issued PDAs.
- Assist office staff with moving cars in/out of the yard when required.
- Take advantage of competitive rates of pay, overtime, and weekly pay.
- Participate in full training provided; IVR qualification.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment / Uniform as provided.
Qualifications
- Full valid UK driving licence.
- Proven experience and qualifications as a 7.5-tonne/Class 2 driver (vehicle recovery experience is an advantage but not essential).
- Minimum of a Category C1 Driving Licence, DCPC and a Digital Tachograph Card.
- Thrives under pressure and is flexible with shifts.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with customers, even in stressful circumstances.
- Desire to assist customers by going the extra mile; keen eye for detail.
- Clean past record and ability to pass police vetting.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the local area.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Motivation to work on your own initiative and resolve challenging situations.
