Class 2 Vehicle Recovery Driver - Bolton in Horwich

Overview

Hough Green Garage is a market leader in the provision of 24‑hour breakdown and recovery services, established for over 40 years. We operate 24/7, 365 days a year for local authorities, blue‑light emergency services, motoring organisations and private companies on a national basis.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be required to attend breakdowns and accidents on motorways and main roads throughout our operational area and perform the following tasks:

• Daily checks and walk‑arounds at the start of every shift
• Weekly vehicle inventory checks
• General housekeeping of vehicles and depots/yards
• Safe removal and delivery of all customer vehicles
• Complete job requirements on company‑issued PDA’s
• Assist office staff with moving cars in/out of the yard when required

Qualifications

• Full valid UK driving licence (Category C1 with DCPC and a Digital Drivers Card)
• Proven experience and qualifications as a 7.5 ton/ Class 2 driver (vehicle recovery experience is a distinct advantage but not essential)
• Thrive under pressure and be flexible with shifts
• Excellent communication skills, able to speak face‑to‑face with customers in stressful circumstances
• Desire to assist customers by going the extra mile, keen eye for detail
• Clean past record enabling police vetting
• Excellent geographical knowledge of the local area
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Motivation to work on your own initiative and resolve challenging situations

Compensation

The hourly rate for this role is up to £15.00 ph (dependent on shift and experience) plus call‑out and overtime. Alternative shifts may be considered and will be discussed at interview.
