Overview
Hough Green Garage is a market leader in 24-hour Breakdown & Recovery Services, established for over 40 years. We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for Local Authorities, Blue Light Emergency Services and Motoring Organisations as well as private companies on a national basis.
Due to increased work volumes and new contracts, we are recruiting additional Class 2 Vehicle Recovery Drivers. The role is varied and fast-paced, requiring a an dottitude, the ability to thrive under pressure, and the initiative to adapt to a range of recovery scenarios. We aim to deliver a fast, efficient and professional service to our customers.
Successful candidates will attend Breakdowns & Accidents on motorways and main roads throughout our operational area. We operate a modern fleet of over 200 vehicles, ensuring we can handle any eventuality. Full IVR accredited training is provided, and career progression is available to all staff, including the opportunity to gain additional skills and licences during employment.
Based at our Bolton Depot BL6 5HY, you will work a 4 on 2 off shift pattern with 12-hour shifts. We have both day and night shifts available. Day shift has on-call requirements which will be discussed at interview.
The hourly rate for this role is up to £15.00 per hour (dependent on shift and experience), plus callout & overtime. Alternative shifts may be considered, and this will be discussed at interview.

The Person
- Full valid UK driving Licence
- Proven experience and qualifications as a 7.5 tonne / Class 2 driver (vehicle recovery experience is an advantage but not essential)
- A minimum of a Category C1 Driving Licence, along with DCPC and a Digital Drivers Card
- Thrives under pressure; flexible with shifts
- Excellent communication skills, able to speak face-to-face with customers in stressful circumstances
- Desire to assist customers by going the extra mile; keen eye for detail
- Clean past record and ability to pass police vetting
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the local area
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Ability and motivation to work on your own initiative and resolve challenging situations

The Role
- Daily checks / walk arounds at the start of every shift
- Weekly vehicle inventory checks
- General housekeeping on vehicles and depots/yards
- Safe removal / delivery of all customer vehicles
- Complete job requirements on company issued PDAs
- Assist office staff with moving cars in/out of the yard when required
