Overview
Hough Green Garage is a market leader in the provision of 24-hour Breakdown & Recovery Services, established for over 40 years. We operate 24-hour, 365 days a year operations for Local Authorities, Blue Light Emergency Services and Motoring Organisations as well as private companies on a national basis.
We are recruiting additional Class 2 vehicle Recovery Drivers due to increased work volumes and new contracts. This is a varied and fast-paced role requiring a \”can do\” attitude, the ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative. You will help deliver a fast, efficient and professional service to our customers and develop a dynamic and adaptive approach to all recovery scenarios.
Successful candidates will be required to attend Breakdowns & Accidents on motorways and main roads throughout our operational area. Hough Green Garage operates a modern fleet of over 200 vehicles to meet these needs. Full IVR accredited training is provided, and career progression is available to all staff enabling additional skills and licences during the course of employment.
Based at our Blackpool Depot FY4 4ES, you will work a 4 on 2 off shift pattern, 12-hour shifts. We have both day and night shifts available. The day shift has on-call requirements which will be discussed at interview.
The hourly rate for this role is up to ÂŁ15.00 per hour (dependant on shift and experience), plus callout and overtime. Alternative shifts may be considered, and this will be discussed at interview.

The Person
- Full valid UK driving Licence
- Proven experience and qualifications as a 7.5 tonne/Class 2 driver (vehicle recovery experience is a distinct advantage but not essential)
- A minimum of a Category C1 Driving Licence, along with DCPC and a Digital Drivers Card
- Thrives under pressure
- Ability to be flexible with shifts
- Excellent communication skills being able to speak face-to-face with our customers, sometimes in stressful circumstances
- Desire to assist our customers by going the extra mile, keen eye for detail
- Clean past record and ability to pass police vetting
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the local area
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- The ability and motivation to work on your own initiative and resolve challenging situations

Role & Responsibilities
- Daily checks / walk arounds at the start of every shift
- Weekly vehicle inventory checks
- General housekeeping on our vehicles and depots/yards
- Ensure safe removal / delivery of all customer vehicles
- Complete job requirements on company issued PDAs
- Assisting office staff with moving cars in/out of the yard when required
