Basic Requirements
We\’re looking to hire experienced editors. You’ll be asked to select up to three of your favorite subgenres.
- You are precise, detail-oriented and skilled in grammar and word usage.
- You are a native English writer and speaker residing in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. All writing must be in US English.
- You use style guides when editing.
- You have open availability and are reachable throughout the day to respond to team members and client messages on our platform.
- You can work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Job Requirements
The role is a hybrid mix of developmental editing and copyediting across fiction and/or nonfiction. As an editor at Hotghostwriter, you\’ll be responsible for ensuring your writer deliver great stories and books to our clients, paying attention to:
- Consistency- In fiction, this being the consistency of characters, plot, objects, and places seen by the reader over a period of time. In nonfiction ensuring books are accurate and provide great valueable information that is consistently presented in the piece.
- Removing overused words and t ightening the language used. Ensure it’s clear and fluid.
- Tightening transitions and scenes- ensuring it all makes sense and reads well.
- Improving tone, phrasing, rhythm, and pacing.
- Lookout for narrative digressions in fiction.
- Tackling errors – grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, syntax, font usage, numerals, hyphenation.
- Writing craft- paragraph structure, sentence structure and flow, and language technique.
- Voice and style.
- Overall delivering a piece that is error-free, reads well, is consistent, cohesive and complete.
