Who are HotelMap? HotelMap is a global technology platform 100% focused on modernising and automating hotel booking in the conference, trade show, and group booking sectors. The HotelMap platform is used by the world’s leading conference and trade show organisers, including Informa, RX Global and DMG Events. The platform operates in over 500 cities worldwide and now includes over 1,000,000 accommodation operators.

What is the Role? We are on the hunt for a Business Development Manager. With a well-defined target market, the successful candidate will promote HotelMap’s technology and services into the B2B events industry. They will engage both existing clients and new prospects to grow our major event footprint, owning the entire sales cycle, from lead generation through to contract signature. HotelMap is not an ordinary company, and this is not an ordinary role. We’ve reinvented hotel booking for events, and we’re looking for a storyteller to inspire, taking our target audience on a journey from the way it’s always been to “the way it should be”.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead Generator: Utilising your established network, and creative outbound strategies, you will build a strong pipeline of prospects.
  • Active Listener: You will practice active listening, engaging deeply, driving a mutual understanding of needs and fit.
  • Solution Seller: You won’t use a “standard pitch deck”, you’ll tailor your pitch to the prospect’s needs, providing solutions to problems.
  • Project Manager: You will treat every opportunity like a project, keeping progress moving at pace, ensuring all parties deliver against their commitments.
  • Contract Negotiator: You’ll negotiate terms with customers firmly, but fairly. You’ll be confident driving for the close.
  • Complete Finisher: You won’t be someone who “throws it over the fence” to Customer Success. You take pride in delivering a smooth and comprehensive handover.

Who you are:

  • Experience: You’ll come from a hotel (or hotel tech) group sales background, selling into the B2B market.
  • Sales: 5+ years’ experience minimum.
  • Technical: You’ll understand the groups hotel contracting process, including the technology beneath.
  • Nice to have: Additional languages are a bonus, such as French, German, Spanish, Italian etc. Hubspot CRM proficiency.

Success Metrics & Performance Goals: The positions will be well rewarded for growing HotelMap’s event base, with a strong base salary, and double OTE. This is in consideration that it may take up to 1-year to establish your client base, and commission is paid 1-month after an event.

  • Call with Hiring Manager (VP New Business) – (60 mins)
  • Call with Hiring Manager (VP New Business) + CEO/Founder (including 15-minute presentation task) – (60-90 mins)
  • Final organisational fit call with internal peers – (45 mins)
