Role: Financial Reporting and Systems Accountant – 12 month contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our finance team as a Financial Reporting Accountant and play an integral role in driving the performance of both the Frasers Hospitality EMEA, Malmaison and Hotel du Vin businesses. The role will support the Group to ensure best practice in financial accounting processes is in place, ensuring the provision of financial information for internal & external reporting is timely, accurate and compliant with UK GAAP/ IFRS. The role will also contribute to systems implementation and digitisation of workflows across the business. This is an initial contract role for 12 months with the potential for it to become a permanent position.
What you’ll be doing…
- Work closely with the Financial Controller EMEA in coordinating the Group external audit.
- Lead the engagement of the audit fieldwork managing workflows and requests from the external auditors.
- Complete impairments testing of fixed assets working closely with the Operations Finance team, CFO and Revenue Director.
- Prepare consolidations and statutory accounts for group and subsidiary entities.
- Design and prepare monthly Group management reporting (balance sheet, group cashflow and working capital).
- Drive reporting timelines and structure across the Group, supporting the month-end close process.
- Develop and document Group policies around financial processes and controls and ensure these are adhered to by finance teams.
- Provide the business with sound and clear technical accounting guidance (including written technical accounting papers) on any matter arising including the impact of changes to accounting standards.
- Coordinate and liaise with the internal tax team to deliver on compliance projects including transfer pricing documentation.
- Manage corporate restructuring work to deliver a streamlined corporate entity structure.
- Review leasing structures to move to turnover leases by assessing impairment, IFRS 16 and tax implications with the tax team.
- Lead ad-hoc finance projects/ activities with teams across the business.
What we’re looking for…
- Degree in the Finance, Accounting or similar required.
- Qualified ACA, with strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP with proven experience in technical accounting.
- Relevant experience in a similar position - technical / group role at a senior level.
- Strong background in completing and reviewing consolidations.
- Proven experience of technical accounting, with proven capability to communicate Financial Reporting requirements to various stakeholders.
- Desire to drive improvements in the end-to-end financial accounting and reporting process.
- An eye for detail and the ability to identify errors.
- Strong systems skills with a mindset of continuous improvement.
- Personable, positive, dynamic professional who works flexibly and collaboratively to achieve deadlines, with a ‘roll up sleeves’ to get the job done attitude.
- Ability to operate in a dynamic business.
- Highly numerate, with proficient Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
- A collaborative team player.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- A disciplined approach to production and documentation of work.
