Hotel Co 51 is a hotel management and development company operating hotels in franchise agreement with Marriott International in Europe. The UK portfolio currently consists of 17 properties under the brands Moxy, Courtyard and AC, located in major cities, airports, urban and suburban areas.
The UK Cluster Finance team is looking for a Junior Accountant to support the team of 7 associates across the UK. The finance team is responsible for finance, controlling and reporting for all properties in the UK, supporting daily operations, assisting in new developments, and conducting training for employees as required.
In the position of Junior Accountant, looking after multiple properties, you will assume responsibility for:
- Monitoring and assisting with Accounts Payable
- Reconciliation of ledgers and related subledgers
- Processing payments and cash reconciliation
- Maintaining accurate and complete books of the hotel
- Month End support and Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Daily reconciliation of company bank accounts
- Communication with external parties (suppliers, foreign partners and customers) about payments and invoice correctness
- Performing archiving work
- Performing intercompany reconciliation
- Reconciliation of employee expenses and payments
- Establishing and building a close working relationship with Hotel Operations
- Any other ad-hoc duties as designated by the Regional Financial Controller or Management
- Developing understanding of various systems and applications used within the company
- Travel to hotels in the portfolio may be required, however, this would be limited
Skills required:
- Strong Accounts Payable knowledge (prepayments, accruals, VAT etc)
- Fluent in English – written and spoken
- Ability to organise own activities and work independently with a remote reporting manager
- Critical attitude and independent mind, “problem solver”
- Advanced knowledge of Office package
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or equivalent completed certification is desirable
- Multi-property hotel finance experience with month end close process is advantageous
- Experience with USALI based ERP would be a plus
