We are looking for a fantastic and energetic Sous Chef for our restaurant, Hop Scotch, at our hotel, Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow SEC. As an enthusiastic Sous Chef you will report to the Head Chef and together you will lead our team of chefs to ensure that dishes are prepared and cooked according to the brand standards. The restaurant serves quality and seasonal food in a relaxed informal environment. The concept includes international street food.
You will be responsible for orders, in charge of service, and ensuring that the food served meets the high quality standards set by yourself, the Operations Manager and the General Manager.
Responsibilities- Leading the kitchen team in absence of the Head Chef
- Training the team on standards, hygiene and quality
- Reviewing ingredients and deliveries
- Monitoring waste and portion control
- Aligning food cost with budget
- Inventing dishes and menu creation, including costings
- Stock rotation and ordering
- Fluent in English; any other language is an advantage
- Minimum 2 years of experience as Sous chef or Executive Sous Chef
- Highly flexible and able to respond creatively to any situation
- Well organized, clean and resilient to stress
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and ordering platforms (computer skills)
- Has a real passion for food
