We’re looking for an Assistant Store Manager with natural people-focused skills – someone passionate, curious, customer‑obsessed, and of course a chocolate lover – to support the Store Manager and team to drive profitable sales and an excellent customer experience in‑store.

Responsibilities

  • Hold overall accountability for managing the store in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring profitable sales and meeting KPIs.
  • Complete all operational tasks, including Health and Safety and HR processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with the Store Manager, working together towards a shared vision for Hotel Chocolat.
  • Drive KPIs and performance in store, motivating the team to achieve targets and deliver a premium shopping experience to every customer every day.
  • Share brand knowledge as a brand ambassador, training, supporting and coaching the team to ensure best‑in‑class service.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with customers and stakeholders, using an infectious communication style.

Qualifications

  • Current or prior experience in hospitality, a café environment, or a premium high‑street retailer delivering an excellent customer experience.
  • Understanding of P&L responsibility and commercial awareness to support business decisions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to flex communication style as needed.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, with effective teamwork.
  • Effective decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
  • Reliable, with effective time‑keeping and organisational skills.
  • Goal‑oriented mindset, demonstrating continuous improvement and personal drive.
  • IT literacy with a good understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
