As we continue our mission to make people and nature happy through reinventing chocolate, we're looking for a Hygiene Team Manager to join our Hygiene Team on a permanent basis.

As Hygiene Team Manager, you will provide operational leadership to our Hygiene Team ensuring that all cleaning and sanitation activities are in line with company standards.

You will be responsible for maintaining high hygiene standards across production areas, leading the team by example and ensuring that all hygiene processes meet audit and compliance requirements.

Shift pattern: Monday to Friday on a rotating weekly shift pattern of 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm.

The onsite location for this role is at our Factory 'Hadley Park', in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, right in the heart of where our chocolates are made and where weekly, we can produce between 4 to 6 million of the chocolates we all know and love.

Hadley Park is just 5 minutes off the A141 and 1.3 miles from Huntingdon train station, with direct rail links to London King's Cross.

  • What you'll be doing…
  • Operational Hygiene Management
  • Lead and supervise the hygiene team to ensure cleaning activities are completed safely and to the required standard.
  • Deliver right-first-time cleaning in line with site procedures and Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Maintain and improve hygiene standards across all assigned areas.
  • Ensure cleaning schedules and tasks are completed as directed by the Hygiene Manager.
  • Take ownership of hygiene standards within the designated area.
  • Compliance and Food Safety
  • Ensure hygiene activities comply with food safety, technical, health and safety and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain accurate hygiene documentation and compliance records.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with site standards.
  • Carry out regular hygiene inspections and internal audits.
  • Team Leadership and Training
  • Lead by example and promote safe working practices.
  • Ensure team members are trained and competent in cleaning procedures, equipment handling and chemical safety.
  • Ensure the training matrix is accurate and up to date and identify any development needs.
  • Deliver regular team briefings and support effective team communication.
  • Reporting and Performance
  • Complete and submit shift reports and hygiene performance metrics.
  • Monitor hygiene performance against KPIs and report issues promptly.
  • Identify opportunities to improve hygiene standards or reduce costs.
  • Stock and Resource Management
  • Manage hygiene consumables, chemicals and equipment stock levels.
  • Ensure chemicals are handled and stored in accordance with COSHH requirements.
  • Maintain effective control of hygiene resources within budget.

Who you are… Essential

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team management role.
  • HACCP Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Food Safety Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience in open plant cleaning environments.
  • Good understanding of hygiene standards within food manufacturing.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Desirable

  • Experience managing hygiene teams within food manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of dry-cleaning processes and chocolate manufacturing.
  • Awareness of microbial risks such as yeast, mould and humidity control.
  • Understanding of BRC standards.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
